Project Description

EMDR Therapy

What is EMDR Therapy?
EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. It is a therapy proven to help reduce symptoms related to: depression, anxiety, trauma and PTSD, and other emotional problems.

How does it work?
EMDR has a direct effect on the way the brain processes information, releasing emotional experiences that are trapped in the nervous system. I will work with you to recall the feeling, thought, or memory that is troubling you. Once we have a good plan in place, we can then move forward with bilateral stimulation. (Bilateral stimulation is something you can see, hear, or touch that occurs in a side to side pattern, for example moving your eyes back and forth). This will activate both the left and right side of the brain while you recall the disturbing memory, thought, or feeling. This results in reprocessing the painful memory for more resolved, peaceful feelings.

People report making more progress in less time with EMDR compared to talk therapy alone.
